Many exciting console game releases are lined up in 2021. The pandemic in 2020 pushed a lot of console game releases back. But things are slowly going back to normal. With the arrival of next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox), we are about to witness the new generation of gaming.
Here are our top picks – the most anticipated ones.
1. Gran Turismo 7
One of the oldest exclusives of Sony, Gran Turismo will come back in 2021 for PlayStation 5. With 60 FPS, 4K, and HDR support, Gran Turismo 7 will be the best-looking GT game to date. It will exploit the full power of PS5.
This new console game will also make use of DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functions. It will make driving more realistic and responsive than ever. We also expect a proper single-player campaign with the return of a few classic GT tracks.
2. God of War: Ragnarok
After the huge success of God of War in 2018, a sequel was expected. However, not as soon as 2021. We still know very little about the game. Very likely, it will get back into the god-killing business with Kratos and his son Atreus.
With PS5’s power, God of War: Ragnarok, looks amazing. GoW games have always showcased the power of PlayStation consoles. Ragnarok will probably do it better.
3. Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to 2017’s excellent Horizon Zero Dawn is releasing in 2021. This time, it explores a post-apocalyptic San Francisco as Aloy. Forbidden West will take full advantage of PS5’s hardware. From gorgeous next-gen graphics to adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, you enjoy it all.
Vibrant and colorful landscapes were a highlight of the first game. It seems Forbidden West will take things even further. It will include brand new machine enemies. Many new gameplay elements and gorgeous underwater sequences too are expected.
4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
The most beloved and colorful duo of the PlayStation, Ratched & Clank is coming to PS5 in 2021 to show the console’s true capabilities. In Rift Apart, players will travel in many vibrant worlds. Jumping from dimension to dimension, you discover PS5’s lightning-fast loading times.
Rift Apart will also feature the series’ trademark action-platforming gameplay. With numerous wild weapons and gadgets, it would be exciting to stop Dr. Nefarious’ plans.
5. Halo Infinite
Halo is one of the most influential first-person shooter series in the market. The series’ next-gen installment was delayed to 2021. But if that’s what it takes for us to get Master Chief’s “greatest adventure to save humanity”, so be it.
According to Microsoft, Infinite’s story will be more “human” and emotional. It promises to have addicting gameplay and be a riveting single-player. It also promises an expansive multiplayer experience. Sounds exciting!
6. Ghostwire: Tokyo
From the developers of The Evil Within, comes another intriguing action console game release for 2021. The game’s crazy first trailer has gotten a lot of attention. The latest gameplay trailer establishes the game as an action-packed one.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is set in modern-day Tokyo in which nearly every citizen disappears suddenly one day. We control a character that uses magic and martial arts to fight supernatural enemies. From creepy shadowy figures to mythical monsters from Japanese folklore you fight it all.
7. The Medium
Bloober Team, developers of acclaimed horror games like Layers of Fear and Blair Witch, is behind one of the most innovative and interesting horror titles of recent years: The Medium. Set to be released on January 28, 2021, The Medium will have a “dual-reality” mechanic.
With this mechanic, our character will move through both the real world and the spiritual world. We will see both of them at the same time on a split-screen. As a medium with psychic power, you will use your cross-dimensional powers to solve puzzles and unravel dark mysteries.
What to expect in console game releases of 2021?
All console game releasing in 2021 will use the strength of the new age gaming consoles. The PS5 releases look more exciting than Xbox ones. But with Xbox X and S new editions, we expect Microsoft will up the game significantly. Second half of the year will see a lot of fireworks. Excited? So are we!
